this is what the mountains looked like!

It has long been Mistral's belief that travel broadens the mind and there is certainly no truth whatsoever in the assertion that he has seldom ventured beyond the back garden of his humble abode in Dunfermline!
In actual fact, he has visited many places around Britain and in the autumn of 1999 embarked upon an exciting expedition to the Himalayas!
Like any self-respecting website author, he returned with a wealth of photographic memories, a few of which can be seen on this very page.

Mistral talking to a yak!

There are a great many yaks in Nepal and Mistral can be seen here, chatting to a friendly, baby one whilst out and about doing a spot of shopping! It's always a good idea to get to know the locals when one is far from home - it really is the only way to get the genuine feel of the 'real' place as opposed to all that tacky touristy stuff, don't you know?

Mistral and an unfriendly monkey!

And here he is, about to beat a hasty retreat, after encountering this rather unfriendly looking monkey!
"Better safe than sorry" as the wise old saying goes.
Sometimes all that genuine, real sort of stuff is not as much fun as it's cracked up to be!

Jaco and Mistral on Chukhung ridge!

After a very strenuous trek, Mistral can be seen here, having a much-needed rest with Jaco, possibly at the top of Chukhung ridge!
He was suffering a little from altitude sickness at this point so his memory as to the exact location is a bit fuzzy!

N.B. Latest information from Jaco confirms that Mistral was correct about the location, effectively squashing the scurrilous rumours that he is getting a bit dotty in his old age!

Now, please proceed, in an orderly fashion, to view Italy 2000 or else have a look at Barcelona 2001?
