Mistral joined the Cebula family around 1974.  Some say he may first have seen the light of day in Harrogate but there is no documentary evidence to prove this so his origins may forever remain unknown.
Prior to that his life is unrecorded but it is generally accepted that nothing much of very great importance could have happened before then!  (Mistral says " well I was born somewhere and that's quite important, is it not?")  This, of course cannot be argued with!

Here he is, on the right, not long after he came to Scotland, brought here by an uncle from Leeds.  Yes, Chris, this is all your fault!

He can be seen on the right of the picture with Jaco, Tamzin and Grandpa, already well assured of his own importance and not at all intimidated by the close proximity of the Andrex puppy!
His lovable appearance belied what was to come!

With hindsight, one can see only too well that look of steely determination that was to become a major part of his personality!

Mistral was named after a real, live horse belonging to one of the aunts in the family -
(Sheila, to be precise)

The 'real' Mistral was a very individual lady horse who eventually became the mother of Jack, another character of whom more will be heard in due course!

Sadly, Mistral died in October 2003 after a very long and happy life.
She retained her unique personality to the end and is now buried in the field which was her home for many years.

Here, on the left, are the two Mistrals circa 1989?
